Each year, various groups host special interest workshops the day before the annual Latornell Conservation Symposium at the Nottawasaga Inn & Conference Centre. It makes good sense, since the venue is all ours anyhow while the steering committee undertakes Symposium set-up. See below for a bit of information on each of this year's workshops, join us for one, and start your learning early! You can sign up for one of the following workshops this year:
- Making It Work: Low Impact Development SWM Construction, Inspection, Maintenance, and Monitoring Module
- Improving Agency Education and Capacity for Erosion and Sediment Control Review
- SMS & 2D Hydraulic (SRH-2D) Modeling
To learn more about the workshops taking place on Monday November 14th, 2016 and to sign up, visit our Pre-Latornell Workshops webpage.
Wednesday Evening Entertainment
The Latornell Conservation Symposium is excited to announce our entertainment for the Wednesday evening Gala Banquet: The Debaters!
The Debaters is the hit show where comics go toe to toe in a battle of laughs and logic. Hosted by Canada's Best Male Standup of 2011 and 2013, Steve Patterson, The Debaters is a combustible mix of sharply crafted comedic rants and hilarious adlibs. It is part stand-up, part quiz show and part comedy competition with the audience picking the winners.
View more information about the comedians on the Latornell Entertainment page.
Help support our Grant Program - Donate to the Latornell Dream Auction!
At the 2016 Symposium, we will host the 15th annual "Dream Auction" which supports our grant program providing support to people who would not otherwise be able to attend Latornell. With almost $12,000 raised at last year's auction, our grants will enable 10-20 students and/or representatives of smaller environmental non-governmental organizations to attend the 2016 Symposium.
You can help with this worthy cause by making a donation to the auction. We welcome anything you think might be successful at an auction.
To make a donation, a suggestion, or if you have any comments please contact Freyja Whitten at 647‑963‑2849 or FWhitten@creditvalleyca.ca.
